Pilot Programs & Classroom Applications
Hartford Middle School Pilot Program
We just finished piloting an innovative blend of personalized online tutoring and AI-driven learning to empower middle school students in Hartford, CT with classroom-ready AI tools and strategies.
Week 1. Introduction to AI: Students learned what AI is, how it works, and its applications in the real world. We tried the AI chatbot for the first time.
Week 2. Tech Exposure and Career Readiness: Students learned how AI relates to a variety of jobs like coding, healthcare, and finance. We looked at AI examples in the real world and ways to learn and practice coding.
Week 3. Using AI as a Multidisciplinary Tutor:
Students learned how to use the chatbot for help with subjects in English, math, science, and social studies classes, and electives like art, music, and technology.
Week 4. Focus on Critical Thinking
Students learned about using AI responsibly and the importance of double-checking AI-generated information with trusted sources. They practiced evaluating AI’s responses to identify errors or areas for improvement. They came up with their own learning goal and begin to explore that goal using the chatbot.
